A.R.T., Assisted Release Therapy™ was developed by Linda Marrical as a method of bodywork to effectively work in the area of pain management. It is a gentle, noninvasive therapy that draws upon the principles and wisdom of ancient Chinese and Tibetan medicine. Based on the modalities of Shiatsu and Acupressure, A.R.T. uses acupressure to directly address the area of distress, then incorporates Shiatsu to bring a complete experience of release to the secondary associated areas. As a result when the client moves they experience a complete body shift.

A.R.T. has become a treatment of choice for the growing numbers of people who seek safe, effective relief of pain and stiffness from chronic medical conditions diagnosed by a medical practitioner. At the client’s request, the A.R.T. practitioner may work with the medical practitioner to deliver maximum health benefits.

The goal of the A.R.T therapist is to bring about quick, profound change at some level during each client visit. Beginning with the first visit, the therapy also focuses on teaching self-management of pain and discomfort. This gradually minimizes or eliminates the need for return treatments. The effects of A.R.T. become cumulative with every visit and every self-treatment

At the end of the Basic course participants will be able to do a full body session and work with many common areas of discomfort experienced by family and friends. It is a wonderful tool for those already practicing some form of body therapy. An intermediate and advanced level will be offered for those wishing to continue and work professionally as an A.R.T. Therapist.

The Basic 40 hour course will cover:

  • The Five Elements and their associations
  • The Twelve Organ Meridians
  • Basic Acupressure for common areas of pain and tension
  • Basic Shiatsu techniques
  • Basic energetic pulse reading
  • Using medicinal oils on organ related points to affect internal distress
  • Self-acupressure, chi kung and breathing to share for self management of pain
